A week ago, I attended a 10-day Vipassana seminar and came out a new person!

For those who don't know what Vipassana is: it is the teaching of Buddha and a special way of meditating, which, among others, Master Goenka popularized.

Basically, it is a body scan, where you move your consciousness through your entire body and feel the different sensations in your body without judging them as repulsive or attractive. We are used to get rid of unpleasant sensations immediately and create a story for ourselves that distracts us from the actual pain.

However, the solution is to focus our awareness on the pain with equanimity and the knowledge that everything is “Anicca” – impermanent. Through movement and concentration of the mind, the stories soon cease – as no new “Sankaras” (conditionings) are created.

Just as there should be no aversion to unpleasant sensations, there should also be no desire or attachment to pleasant sensations. For desire also creates suffering.

I am still very enthusiastic and recommend it to everyone when one is ready.
